there’s one cool place in Riga, that opened just moments before New Year – new Vīna Studija (Wine Studio) at Stabu Str. that’s the place I want to visit as soon as possible. interior is not a surprise – simple, pale, stylish, just as I thought and just as I love. Lightyears pendants, Eames chairs, local wood… mmm… beautiful.

this living house complex is… well, I love everything about it – the style, materials used, location, idea in general and black, of course. consisting of 8 houses, this is modern approach for traditional country house, as I have read. architecture, finish and decorations are minimal and doesn’t compete with beautiful nature around. enjoy!

8 melnie… jau pirmo reizi ieraugot publikācijas par šo māju kompleksu, momentāli iemīlējos. man patīk viss – stils, izmantotie materiāli, atrašanās vieta, ideja pati par sevi un melnais, protams melnais. sastāvot no 8 ēkām, šī esot mūsdienīga pilsētnieku interpretācija par māju laukos, kā esmu lasījusi. arhitektūra, apdare un dekorācijas mājā ir minimālas un nekonkurē ar skaisto apkārtējo dabu. baudiet!

it’s Latvian! house on artificially created island

it’s the summer house of one of the top architects in Latvia and her family. there’s quite an interesting history of the building and the island – it’s the only artificially created island in Baltic Sea and supposed to be used for fish industry, but never was. now it’s settled as stylish, industrial but comfy living place. there’s top class furniture and lighting, originally designed fireplace and impressive size dining table.

šī ir Latvijas top arhitektes un viņas ģimenes vasaras māja. ēkai  un pašai salai, kas nodēvēta par Lieldienu salu, ir interesanta vēsture – šī ir vienīgā mākslīgi veidotā sala Baltijas jūrā un ēku 80-tajos gados bija domāts izmantot kā zivjaudzētavu, taču tā nekad tā arī netika izmantota. tagad tā ir iekārtota kā moderna, industriāla tomēr komfortabla dzīvojamā māja. iekārtojumā top klases mēbeles un apgaismojums, speciāli projektēts, griestos iekārts kamīns un apskaužami iespaidīga izmēra ēdamgalds.

I like wool felt as material. it’s actually easy to use, easy to sew and I have few peaces in mind I could try to make by myself – like one of so many DIY projects I have in mind. in mind. for now. :)

this is a very cozy place in the middle of Riga city centre. restaurant/cafe and teashop in romantic country style interior, where every piece is chosen by the owners of the place. they serve simple and light dishes made from products from Latvian countryside and baking fresh cookies, pies, bread etc. at the same place. in the summer there’s even bazaar outside Fazenda. do you feel the air?

šī ir ļoti omulīga vietiņa pašā Rīgas centrā. restorāns/kafejnīca un konditoreja romantiskā eklektiskā interjerā, kur katra lieta ir pašu īpašnieku izraudzīta. tur piedāvā vienkāršus un vieglus ēdienus gatavotus no Latvijas lauku labumiem un pašceptus svaigus cepumiņus, bulciņas, maizi utt. un visu vienuviet. vasarā pie Fazendas darbojas pat tirdziņš… sajūtat atmosfēru?

it’s Latvian! house no. 1.

it’s a shame I haven’t showed you any house in Latvia. and there is to show. we have several outstanding architects that shine with excellent ideas and unbelievable material and material combination uses. at the moment one of the top architects is Zane Tetere. below is the house near the capital of Latvia – Riga. but there would be no wonder if the house would be located somewhere oceanside or in the middle of dessert, don’t you think so?

tiešām kauns, ka līdz šim neesmu parādījusi jums nevienu ievērības cienīgu ēku un interjeru Latvijā. bet rādīt ir ko. mums patreiz ir vairāki ievērojami arhitekti, kas izceļas ar ekselentām idejām un neiedomājamu materiāli izvēli un to kombinācijām. viena no topa arhitektēm ir Zane Tetere. zemāk skatiet dzīvojamo māju netālu no Rīgas. bet tikpat labi šāda ēka iederētos arī kaut kur okeāna krastā vai tuksneša vidū, jūs tā nedomājat?

there are 3 ladies – talented Latvian designers – behind newly established brand mammalampa. main designer Ieva Kaleja is graduated Domus Academy in Milan where multicultural environment has been a starting point of her ideas.
 I like the idea of the concept:
“The beauty of the natural world is being eclipsed by manufacturing. Everything has to be perfect, stainless and economic. As precise as a computer generated composition. And just as artificial. 
Virtual thinking has stolen our reality. In our hearts, we yearn to get back to it.
Frustrated and bored by our plastic civilization, we long for the primeval, for natural things which have not been manufactured. We yearn for the fruits of nature not man. Mamma is the foundation of everything. The beginning. The very roots.”

so that is what makes they special – use of natural materials, minimal production technologies, hand work, pieces from nature and used material.

I’m seriously thinking to obtain one of these beauties, for example “bride” for my bedroom…
